Job Description

Business Development Manager - Software Sales

Location: UK or Europe

Established for 50 years, Hansen Technologies is a leading global provider of customer care, billing software and data management systems across 80 countries with specialisations in the utilities and telecommunications industries. With over 1500 people across 31 offices globally, our people bring a deep expertise, that drives innovation and ideas to ensure we deliver exceptional products and services.

The Role

Hansen is seeking a Business Development Manager to focus on identifying, building, and qualifying our software sales pipeline in the Telecommunication industries. You will be fully empowered and accountable for researching prospects, making phone calls, writing conversion-driven emails, qualifying leads, setting up appointments, scheduling demos, and fielding qualified opportunities.

The person we are looking for is a prolific doer and a self-starter who will have a key role in ensuring our growth.

To be successful in the role you must have previous Telecommunications sales experience and knowledge of regional System Integrators / Channel partners. You also must be a fast-moving, driven individual with a strong customer focus. You need to be confident and focused on delivering on your goals. We are looking to change our market profile with this role and therefore expect candidates who are proven performers with high expectations of themselves and of us. A solid track record of successful enterprise sales or B2B sales in this market will be required. The role will involve driving sales activities from initial prospect identification to deal closure.

To effectively manage this process, the appointed individual should be comfortable with direct customer consulting and opportunity development. The role will provide a fair amount of autonomy and therefore a highly motivated approach to generate leads, revenue, and achieve individual sales targets is essential.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

You will be accountable for meeting our goals of building a pipeline and delivering qualified opportunities with a high closing ratio that supports our sales targets.

Your Key Tasks Will Involve
  • Prospect into strategic business accounts via cold call, email, and social strategies
  • Identify, build, and qualify leads. This occurs through two modalities:
  • Inbound: take action as the first point of contact on inbound leads that come in from demo requests, content downloads, referrals, and other lead sources
  • Outbound: prospecting opportunities by targeting specific types of buyers and generating interest/demand via emails, calls, and social media/sales navigator
  • Research, and grow the addressable target accounts by expanding our contact database
  • Work continuously to improve the quality of our contact database of addressable accounts
  • Maintain and organise an annual book of business
  • An integral part of the demand generation team, working with the Digital & Demand Generation Director, as well as customer marketing leads
  • Drive sales growth and pipeline by setting up qualified meetings for Account Executives
  • Working closely with the account executives for handover of qualified leads, following up on closing rates
Experience, Skills & Knowledge Required

Self-starter with high energy, with a ‘get it done now’ vs wait for tomorrow attitude
  • Growth mindset, consistently working to improve your skills and adapt in a constantly changing environment
  • Numbers and data driven
  • 1-2 years of experience in inside sales, demand generation, and BDR roles
  • in-depth understanding of the sales process, with the ability to progress and manage complex sales cycles in software
  • Strong communication skills, and outstanding in English both in verbal and written (fluency in other European languages highly desirable)
  • Experience working with global teams and external partners, with the ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Exceptional project management skills coupled with a meticulous desire to manage project timelines and deliverables
What Hansen Offer
  • A stable and rewarding career path working for an established, expanding Software provider
  • Industry competitive salary and benefits package
  • Flexible hours and work from home options
