Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Projects and Modifications Leader to join our Technical Services Department.

Please note: this vacancy closes on the 19th May 2023.

Activities include:
  • Providing safety leadership to the P&M team for all managed Modifications to drive a zero incident safety culture both within the P&M team and with Contractors & Vendors
  • Champion a collaborative working culture based on respect for health, safety and environmental issues and maintenance of a high level of asset integrity
  • Ensure that the Projects Statement of Requirements and Modification Pre-Engineering dossier requirements are met and completed with the quality specified and within approved budget and schedule, as agreed with Asset / S&B
  • Ensure that projects and modifications are carried out in line with current regulations (DCR, PFEER, etc.) and Group rules
  • Co-ordinate the preparation and management of the Project/Modification budgets
  • Where applicable perform Contract Representative for engineering, fabrication, construction & commissioning contracts
  • Promote alignment between day-to-day objectives and company strategic aims
  • Ensure employees and contracted staff are properly supervised and are aware of the relevant systems of work and procedures.
  • Ensure a contract strategy and execution plan is in place for all major projects and negotiate contracts/purchase orders accordingly, with due respect of company rules and within agreed timescales and budgets
  • Monitor Contractors’ achievements in accordance with contractual requirements and especially in area of safety and technical expertise to ensure all company standards are met
  • Ensure that best practice and technical innovations are shared and implemented through the company’s projects
  • Maintain an overview of project estimation and cost control systems in the supply chain
  • Consult with Group to assist any Project Management programmes and initiatives to improve project management capabilities within Project
  • Build capability in Project Management, through input to recruitment, development of Project Managers, project assurance, change management and collaboration with Contractors
  • Support Pre-Project studies providing Project input prior to project sanction
  • Drive open and honest communication within the Projects Team, the Assets and standalone Project teams

Context and environment

The Projects & Modifications Leader is responsible for delivering assigned Projects and Modifications in a cost effective, timely and controlled manner. The Leader is required to be results orientated with the ability to lead change and have a solid understanding of asset integrity and major accident hazard management.

Candidate profile

  • Degree in a recognised Engineering discipline and membership of relevant Professional Body (chartered engineer or equivalent).
  • Considerable experience and relevant offshore project management skills (technical, planning, cost control, contracts).
  • Working knowledge of the key concerned engineering disciplines:- (e.g. Structural, Process, Electrical & Instrumentation, Piping, Mechanical, Subsea etc.).
  • Recognised Project Management Qualification
  • Strong understanding of offshore operations and project management
  • Proven project management & contractor management experience
  • Good working knowledge of engineering disciplines, associated technical standards, processes and relevant legislation
  • Ability to create positive relations with peers and stakeholders internally and externally
  • Strong supervisory, written and oral communication skills and the ability to present complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner
