What is special about this opportunity?

The Kerrigan Project provides support and accommodation for 9 people including one emergency bed unit. The project is aimed at people who have complex needs including a combination of substance misuse, offending and mental ill-health. The project also provides emergency provision for up to 5 rough sleepers per night.

We provide housing and support to improve mental and emotional health, reduce re-offending, access sustainable housing and maintain independence within the community. The people we work with are also encouraged and supported to develop life skills, engage in volunteering, education and training opportunities with the aim of becoming more independent and less reliant on support services.

How can I make a difference?

You will support service users to develop the key skills to achieve positive progression and to develop the skills to re-settle in the community. Project workers are expected to lead each shift and direct the work of scheme support officers.

Daily duties include:

  • Undertaking assessment of client needs, risks and suitability to be allocated into the supported accommodation scheme.
  • Having overall responsibility for a case load of clients within the service, (this will be for a number of individual clients)
  • Be responsible for drawing up the Risk Assessment and putting a Risk Management Plan in place where necessary, in order that risk is managed safely within the service, and have overall responsibility for maintaining and updating these, on an ongoing basis.

Key Information

  • This is a full time (37 hours) permanent role.
  • The salary for this role is £21,544 per annum.
  • Shifts are allocated on a rota basis and will include evenings, weekends and nights.
  • For this role you will require an Enhanced DBS check, which we pay for.
  • It is essential for the successful candidate to have a full drivers licence and access to a vehicle.

Who are we looking for?

You will have experience of working with service users that have substance misuse issues or working with the homeless. This role requires flexibility along with enthusiasm, motivation and creativity. You need the ability to work on your own initiative in a busy and dynamic role as well as a being a positive team player. This role is for a passionate individual who believes they can make a difference to our service users. You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
