About The Role

  • Are you interested in developing innovative ways of working using face to face and online interventions?
Barnardo’s Healthy Minds Wiltshire is commissioned by Wiltshire Council and funded through the Clinical Commissioning Group to provide a range of support for young people aged 5-18 across the County. We offer advice and information , groupwork , positive activities and short term counselling to young people experiencing emerging mental health needs such as low mood and anxiety.

We work to ensure young people are in the "driving seat" when choosing to engage with our service. We therefore work in partnership with them to develop services that are appropriate to their needs . These include a range of positive activities to engage them to help them develop confidence and resilience.

Where required, the mental health practitioner will deliver groupwork to young people either face to face or online using the Decider skills model for which training will be provided. There may also be opportunities to deliver groupwork to parents

The successful applicant will also support the development of our website which we manage on behalf of Wiltshire council and assist with the provision of a web chat facility .

If successful you will work according to Barnardo’s "Work From Anywhere " policy which will include access to our 2 office bases within the county and could include working from home.

Working as part of a small team of counsellors and practitioners you will need to be flexible, innovative and child directed. You will also need to demonstrate an ability to engage with young people with mental health needs ensuring their wellbeing and safety at all times.

Availability to work outside school hours including some weekends is essential.

An ability to travel throughout the Locality to meet the requirements of the post is also essential.
