This is an exciting time to join SSE, you have the power to make a change and help us build a better, more sustainable world of energy for you, your family, the community you live in and for generations to come.Our Transmission Project Manager summer placements provides real hands-on experience through a 12 week placement in our Capital Development and Delivery team. Throughout placement, you will have the support of a business mentor and manager, who will provide guidance and support to enable you to reach your full potential.Working as part of our multi-disciplined Capital Delivery team, we have the opportunity for a student to gain the knowledge and experience needed to work towards a Project Manager role. You will need the ambition to become a project management professional ultimately leading on major infrastructure projects.You will work with our engineers on the selection of appropriate technologies to meet project requirements, coordination of key surveys & studies, coordinating initial design works, acquisition of land rights & wayleaves and submission of Planning Applications.Building and maintaining productive and enduring relationships with Contractors, Stakeholders, Communities & the public to support sustainable delivery of projects is key to this role so you will need to be a strong communicator with great interpersonal skills.The programme will support your career development into a place on our graduate programme that reflects your experience and passion.What do I need?We have opportunities for those studying degrees inclusive of; Construction Project Management, Civil Engineering and Construction Management, Strategic Project Management, Safety and Risk Management, Electrical Engineering with Project Management. Our opportunities are open to students who are in their 2nd or 3rd year of their degree onwards.We’d love you to have some practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for the energy sector (not-essential), as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You’ll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges and should have a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us.About Our Business SSEN Transmission owns and operates the electricity transmission network in the north of Scotland, transporting energy from where it is generated to where it is needed, providing a safe and reliable supply of electricity to the communities it serves.
