Project Manager - NuclearWe are looking for Project Managers to join our growing UK team.Vulcain Engineering provides Engineering consultancy services across multiple Industry sectors on a global scale. Vulcain was founded in the mid-2000s to specialise in energy and environment projects. Our UK business is well positioned within the UK Nuclear industry. We provide the flexibility our clients demand by working at our customers’ sites in the UK and Europe as well as carrying out work remotely on their behalf. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of organisational support to key Projects.We now have exciting permanent opportunities for motivated and suitably qualified Assistant Project Managers to join our our Technical Communities based in the South West of England, and be a part of making valuable contributions to the mega-infrastructure, Nuclear New Build project at Hinkley Point C (HPC).The Role:Under the close supervision and guidance of a Senior Project Manager, the successful Project Manager will be required to manage manufacturing and installation contract(s) with the following key characteristics:- Drive the delivery of the contracts or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely, on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements. Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matters
  • Anticipate, manage and resolve issues within the contact or package. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop and update the programme budget, and escalate any issues to the Project Manager
  • Undertake all contract administration activities (with support of a Commercial Manager) including variations, claims, technical queries and instructions.
  • Provide sufficient oversite of the Tier 1’s supply chain to ensure Nuclear Safety is maintained
  • Resolution of issues/ NCR’s/ etc during the manufacturing process to ensure quality and schedule are maintained.
  • Management of all change to the contract including - scope definition, business justification and implementation of agreed change in line with associated governance.
  • Ensure level 3 schedules are developed and maintained for the contract or package of work. Ensure such schedules are consistent with overall Project schedules.
  • Liaison with HPC Site team to ensure all pre shipping actives are complete to facilitate seamless delivery in line with schedule requirements.
  • Assist in securing the required resources to meet their project requirements, ensuring the maintenance of SQEP for any assigned resource and promptly identifying any personnel shortfalls or issues within their project team
  • Maintain effective communications with all stakeholders and executing the project or PEP strategies within their contract or package of work
  • Apply the principles of Earned Value Management (EVM) and other usual commercial reporting requirements
  • Apply the principles of Continuous Improvement, ensuring that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual.
  • Interface with other programmes to ensure a high-level view of how the total project is progressing and to identify and adopt the use of best practice.
  • Required Skills and Competence:- Degree/HND - Civils, Building or M&E related*.
  • Preferably chartered (CIOB, ICE, IET, CIBSE, etc)*.
  • PM Qualification or proven experience of operating within recognised PM delivery methodology.
  • Proven experience of managing construction/manufacturing related projects.
  • Experience of managing NEC and/or FIDIC contracts.
  • Able to demonstrate strong management skills including financial, risk, change, engineering, and schedule.
  • Appreciation of Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements in a highly regulated environment.
  • Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills
  • Experience of managing contractors, consultants, and other advisors
  • Demonstrable experience in lieu of qualifications are acceptable.
