The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will see athletes from 72 nations and territories compete in 19 sports across 14 competition venues. Our integration specialists will lead the delivery of the critical communications network, working alongside Games partners to enable real-time sporting data to be shared with the world’s media.
North, which has experienced significant growth in recent years, is responsible for delivering the end-to-end design, integration, and Games-time service management of the communications network for Birmingham 2022, working closely with the venue network infrastructure supplier/s.
North has a strong record of providing specialist services for major sporting events including previous experience as Official Cabling Services Integrator at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, as well as multiple Ryder Cups and The Open Golf Championships.
Knowledge of networks and infrastructure will be highly advantageous, along with any experience of venue management. Stakeholder Management and customer service will form a major part of this role, together with interfacing with multiple support functions allocated to the project.
- You will be responsible for the delivery and management of infrastructure projects across several sites ensuring that projects are delivered within budget and timescales.
- Maximising profitability through efficiency of resource maintained through effective leadership.
- The management of the installation of infrastructure and telecom services will include but not limited to, structured cabling, racks, routers, switched and wireless infrastructure.
- You will manage all related activities to the successful completion of the project, ensuring design and installations meets industry standards, internal and client specification.
- Prior to installation, you will be part of the planning and preparation team to ensure site survey requirements, planning and infrastructure layouts and any site limitations are fully documented.
- As Project Manager, post site commissioning, you will have location managers report to you, and you will act as the main point of contact for any escalation required across your allocated sites, reporting back to the Programme Manager.
- As Project Manager you will be required to produce and maintain a Project Plan, Site Documentation and Reports as required by the project.
- Proven experience in Project Management roles
- Project Management qualification
- Knowledge of networks and infrastructure will be desirable
- Previous venue management experience is also desirable
- Design appreciation and ability to understand specifications and drawings
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Influencing skills including negotiation
- Strong commercial awareness
- Ability to work under pressure, effective prioritisation to meet multiple deadlines
- Full UK Driving License
