Role Profile (The purpose of the role)

The Project Manager is responsible for managing the delivery of their assigned project scope and objectives, this may be a single complex project or a group of lower complexity projects and tasks. They are accountable for delivery of quality projects on time, on budget and brief. The Project Manager is absolutely key to the successful delivery of the Verastar strategy.

Responsibilities of the role (What we want you to do)

Define, plan, control and deliver business projects within suitable governance structure, timescales, scope, and budget.

Elicits, documents, and manages project scope with project sponsor which shows the why, the what, the when, the how and the resource needs.

Elicits, documents, and manages baseline projects plans at a workable level which show what must be done, by who, in what order and the durations.

Elicits, documents, and manages risks and issues that are present in projects, understands importance, timeframes, and ensures clear ownership of them.

Schedules, prepares, chairs and playbacks project steer meetings with project sponsor and senior leadership stakeholders.

Schedules, prepares, chairs and playbacks project team meetings with project team members.

Elicits, documents, and manages actions that are present in projects, understands importance, timeframes, and ensures clear ownership of them.

Facilitates effective decision making by project sponsor and senior leadership stakeholders so that the project can progress successfully.

Schedules, prepares, chairs and playbacks Go/No Go meetings with project stakeholders.

Ensures QA plans have been drawn up, that checks have clear ownership, and are implemented on Go Live.

Schedules, prepares, chairs and playbacks project closedown meetings with project sponsor and senior leadership stakeholders.

Elicits and documents lessons learned through the project for continuous improvement purposes.

Provide effective and timely reports to ensure stakeholders are kept up to date at all stages throughout the project lifecycle.

Delivering project outputs to scope within budget and timeframe with key milestones hit.

Delivering project value on behalf of project sponsors.

Strong risk and issue management and mitigation.

Effective resource management which inspires project stakeholders to succeed.

Great feedback from senior project managers and project stakeholders.

Experience (What you need to have already done to be right for this role)

Strong project management experience, delivering a variety of commercial and operational projects throughout the project lifecycle.

Proven track record of project methodology implementation and driving improvements.

Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.

Experience of working in a fast-paced transforming organisation, where everything isn’t perfect, but we’re working hard to get there.

Qualifications And Other Requirements

Project management qualification, desirable (Prince2, APM, Agile).

Industry Experience: Information Technology, Utilities and/or Service provision, preferred.

Location: within commuting distance of Verastar HQ, Sale, Manchester.

IT literate, with knowledge of the effective use of Microsoft (Word, excel PowerPoint).

Full time/Permanent contract of 37.5 hours per week
