About us:

Working within the Telecoms Payload projects department you will be given an insight of our Telecommunication satellite Projects. With new contracts successfully secured in, this is a busy department, working closely with our customers to fulfill their design expectations and deliverables.

The PMO is an extremely synergized & diverse team - composed of members working on Management, Costing, Scheduling, Supply Chain, Procurement & Automation among others. We look to constantly improve the tools, technologies & processes utilised by our space programs, wherein we proactively identify issues and propose solutions to implement in the day to day operations of the company.

What you will be doing:

Supporting and following Telecoms senior project managers to develop an understanding of the project requirements to the point where you will be able to manage your own project or work package. At this point you will then take responsibility for updating your own project plans and schedules, ensuring deliveries are on time, cost and quality, managing risk and issues and provide regular reports to all project stakeholders:

  • Supporting Project Managers

  • Financial reporting

  • Forward load reporting

  • Improvement and Performance management

  • Working alongside Work Area Managers

Depending on the type of project you will also be expected to take responsibility for engagement with the customer, as well as coordinating with supporting functions such as procurement, finance, commercial, logistics and export.

As part of this degree apprenticeship, you will be studying towards achieving a BSc (Hons) Project Management.

University of Portsmouth ( subject to change due to university availability)

Requirements

In order to be eligible to this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:

  • Level 3 qualifications on entry e.g. 3 A Levels at Grades A to C, or a vocational equivalent

OR

  • 120 UCAS Tariff points from a combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications which may include A level or BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas

  • Maths and English at Level 2 with a grade C or above

The successful candidates will also be able to demonstrate the following;

  • Good communication skills

  • Personable approach that will unify team members who are often working under pressure

  • Ability to work autonomously once tasked with an activity

  • Solid team player

  • Ability to work to deadlines

  • Challenge the normal operating mode with proposed improvement/implementation plan

  • Ability to plan/Time Management

  • Submit your CV stating your predicted or achieved grades in your application;

GRADES: If you are on predicted grades, your offer will be conditional to achieving the position’s requirements before the apprenticeship start date.
