Project Leader - Engineering Strategy (Resource)

An exciting opportunity exists for a Project Leader to join our newly established Engineering Strategy Team. Reporting into the Head of Engineering Strategy you will be responsible for introducing new ways of working and methodologies for strategic projects across the business such as future innovations.

In this diverse role you will liaise closely with Engineering teams and our central Finance department to forecast Engineering activities and compare with actual financial data; with a view to marrying these and establishing a smoother and more efficient & effective process going forwards.

This role would suit someone experienced in project management, particularly with experience of large project / budget management, with a passion for creating and embedding new, efficient ways of working. You should be a self-starter able to work autonomously whilst being able to form strong working relationships with diverse groups of individuals from finance to engineering. It is also important that you are confident and comfortable in reporting and presenting to C-Suite level. Experience from within the automotive industry would be beneficial but is not required, more important is a keen analytical and mathematical mind with a data driven approach to decision making.

What you’ll be doing:

• Lead Engineering resource forecasting for all vehicle, Innovation & Cross-Carline Component projects, as well as other non-project related activities
• Drive creation of overheads activities plan, liaising with relevant functions to collate & prioritise requirements for non-project related items, such as software & licences & in-house development facilities & equipment
• Collate activity forecasts & distribute to Finance department, supporting generation of corresponding investment plans
• Support Finance department with Engineering input for continuous improvement of financial tracking systems
• Foresee upcoming changes to Engineering activities, liaising with relevant functions to anticipate requirements driven by unplanned events such as product strategy changes, new legislations etc
• Drive annual resource budget generation for Engineering functions based on Make vs Buy workstream outputs

What you’ll bring:

• Experience in Project Management
• Complex activities forecasting / tracking experience
• Experience in product development environment, preferably in the automotive industry or similar
• Budget development & ownership experience
• Mathematical / Finance or Project Management-based degree or equivalent qualification
• Strong teamwork & collaboration skillset, self-motivated & able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strategic focus
• Exercise considerable initiative/judgement in working methods & interpreting work requirements & goals
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills
• Fluent presenter to all business levels
