About The RoleProject Development Engineer – Solar and BatteryBase Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We’re proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base ’home’ location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK and Ireland.Salary: £Competitive + car / allowance + performance-related bonus, up to 10% + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.Working Pattern: Full Time and Flexible First options availableThe RoleAs a Project Development Engineer, you’ll work within an exciting, challenging and growing area of the SSE Energy Solutions business, working as part of multi-disciplinary engineering design teams in the evaluation of Energy Storage and Solar generation project opportunities, preparation of bids, development of conceptual and front-end engineering designs, and providing support during project delivery for a wide variety of complex projects progressing SSE’s and potential clients.Your passion for engineering will drive you to embed innovation into the solutions which you will lead your design team to develop, such that you successfully optimise scope, cost, programme and risk for your projects, considering health, safety, and the environment throughout.You will work alongside others to help inform and influence senior stakeholder inside and outside of our business to successfully move your projects through the SSE’s investment making process. You will have the opportunity to grow as a professional individual while you help grow the business, and you will be supported in your personal development throughout.Your understanding of the energy market and that of the transmission and distribution networks combined with your engineering expertise will play a crucial role in driving and increasing our success, and in doing so, drive business growthWhat do I need?- Ideally you will be qualified to degree level in a relevant STEM subject, preferably in Electrical Engineering or a related topic within the energy industry.
- You will have a broad understanding of all areas of the energy industry; in particular distributed energy technology, smart energy systems and transmission and distribution networks.
- An understanding of the UK energy market and regulations would be advantageous.
- In particular, you will have strong experience in the development and design of LV, MV and HV power networks; and/or the development and design of energy generation projects.
- You will be a highly motivated individual with effective written and spoken communication skills. You will have a flexible approach that lends itself to collaborating with colleagues and customers at a high level.
- Experience and a successful history of managing and interfacing with consultants and Engineering Procurement and Construction contractors is desirable.
