White Label is working exclusively with an engineering and manufacturing business in Dewsbury that has a requirement for a Project Design Engineer to join their team. They are looking for someone energetic and enthusiastic about performing a varied role where you will be heavily involved with the product including design, project management, dealing with customers, and product testing. Responsibilities of the Project Design Engineer
  • Responsibility for project engineering activities from concept through to production validation and SoP.
  • Investigates design factors such as function, materials, performance, interchangeability, cost, operational efficiency.
  • Preparation of project engineering data for new product assemblies and components, e.g. 3D/2D Drawings, BoM’s, Technical Specifications, D/FMEA’S, Tolerance Stack-up calculations, FEA and CFD analysis where required.
  • Management of technical data per design procedures, from customer inputs, specifications, drawings to design outputs and design decision records.
  • Responsible for customer technical liaison on new projects, ensuring that the designs meet the customer’s requirements and often exceed their expectations and remain competitive to achieve sales growth and increase market share.
  • Responsibility for ensuring cost targets are achieved, and designs are commercially competitive.
  • Responsible for product design and component tooling spend in the region of £500k.
  • Responsible for chairing multi-disciplinary project meetings ensuring the successful completion of internal department activities.
  • Prepare supplier Request for Quotation data and support supplier selection and liaison to ensure that technical specifications and design criteria are met.
  • Assist in the compiling Design and Development validation plans to ensure that the product or system meets the product specification and quality requirements.
  • Responsible for planning and preparation of internal and external prototype samples, e.g. ordering of external supplier components and management of internal samples and prototype manufacture.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key supplier research & development personnel, in order to obtain priority industry information and future business opportunities.
  • Support in the preparation of timing plans.
  • The position will require national and international travel.
  • Preparation of appropriate technical material for presentation to customers, (i.e. design proposals, technical presentations, planning and costs).
  • As part of the design process, support the manufacturing process studies, e.g. Design for Manufacture, P/FMEA Experience required of the Project Design Engineer
  • Educated to a degree level in an engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of design experience.
  • 3D CAD experience (Inventor preferable).
  • Detailed drawing experience.
  • Willingness to a varied role with a mix of design, project management, customer interaction and product testing.
  • Knowledge of GD+T and Fluid Dynamics highly preferable. Package/Benefits
