Purpose of the role

As a Planner you will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and executing a robust programme of work for site engineers and sub-contracts alike to safely deliver. You will also be liaising with the operations team, senior management and the client to ensure all works can be delivered within the time frames and budgets set by the contract. You will track progress, incorporate changes and forecast delivery dates and expenditure.

About The Role
  • Creating an efficient and well-planned programme, ensuring all available work and tasks are visible and deliverable
  • Validating the works order from the client to ensure it has all the correct information for Amey to deliver (Job type/Time frame/Value)
  • Booking Road space and handling any clashes with third parties.
  • Collaborate with internal and external parties to utilise pre booked closure and shared opportunities
  • Monitor and control the work being carried out, manage the risk and/or re-planning of the non-completed work.
  • Attend weekly/ monthly calls explaining your part of the programme and to highlight any possible risks you may see, seeking help from other areas if needed
  • Considering aspects of compliance and health and safety of the workforce
  • Look for continuous improvement within your role and the business
  • Manage critical path analysis, hold points and milestones within MSP
  • Ensure that all team members operate according to Amey principles and have a clear understanding of systems and processes
  • With support of commercial team, ensure that contracts are in place before work commences including sub contracts and purchase orders for suppliers and sub consultants
  • Maintain and develop key client contacts to maximise future business opportunities
What we are looking for

To be successful as a Planner you will be currently working in a similar position and will have experience of the following.
  • You will have strong time management and problem solving skills and be competent on IT packages, ideally with experience in using MSP
  • Experience managing large scale construction projects
  • You will be highly organised and flexible in your approach. Strong communication skills are essential for this post as you will be dealing with multiple stakeholders on a daily basis.

About The Account

Do you want to work on managing and maintaining the essential trunk roads in the North East of Scotland, providing safe and reliable passage for all road users?



Here at Amey we have been awarded the contract to manage and maintain the Trunk Road Network in the North East of Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland. We will work closely with Transport Scotland to deliver improved levels of service to the trunk road network, aiming to ensure consistent, predictable and reliable journeys for road users. The contract will deliver maintenance, road safety, bridges and structures and discrete improvement schemes whilst taking into account the Scottish Government’s climate change and sustainability targets
