As Programme Manager you will report directly into the Head of PMO and hold responsibility for the delivery of business critical projects and programmes. This will include the planning, design and delivery of the portfolio of projects that make up the wider programme to time, cost and quality requirements.
It will be your responsibility to lead and manage the delivery and handover, delivered against the required outcomes and benefits. This will also include the implementation of change requests from initiation to delivery and handover.
You will work within the programme governance framework and will act as an escalation point for risks and issues relating to programmes and projects; and work closely with other teams to resolve.
The projects will be formally defined, planned and baselined through strong management of the Project Managers and their teams.
You will manage the budget be responsible for robust reporting of spend against that budget - and for highlighting and agreeing any anticipated variations to agreed tolerances as soon as these are foreseen.
Budgets are variable but will be as significant as several million pounds and will involve managing a team of up to 8 Project/Senior Project Managers with accountability for managing any associated OPEX Budget.
Some Of The Required Skills And Experience
Extensive experience in Project / Programme management using leading methodologies and processes such as PRINCE 2 and MSP
Stakeholder management (internally and externally) with the ability to engage effectively with people from any directorate
Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes
Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
Good working knowledge of software/hardware product lifecycle models
Established manager, capable of implementing change
The ability to see the bigger picture - accounting for the business top-level priorities - find ways of solving or pre-empting problems
