The Main Purpose Of The Role

As Vocational Programme Lead we expect you to lead and develop vocational training across Aurora Foxes. You will ensure all students have the skills and knowledge required to be ‘work ready, life ready’ following completion of their course.

You will lead the vocational education team ensuring all students achieve vocational, knowledge and experience to enable them to achieve qualifications that will lead to meaningful employment.

Key Duties
  • Lead and develop vocational training across Aurora Foxes. To act as a professional and positive role model for all within the vocational team.
  • Ensure the vocational curriculum is thoroughly and robustly planned and that all sessions are inspiring, engaging and individualised to the highest quality and every student is challenged and stretched ultimately achieving their aspirations of meaningful employment. To cover absence where required.
  • To work collaboratively with the Head of Education and education leads to ensure Aurora Foxes is compliant with regulatory frameworks and guidance, including Ofsted.
  • To attend internal and external training and share information with relevant colleagues. To deliver training to staff across the college. To work with the Hotel manager to source appropriate hospitality CPD for staff.
  • Ensure that every student makes progress in each session and that this progress is recorded, evidenced and evaluated effectively, and efficiently. You will ensure all under and over achievement in recorded, addressed and reviewed.
  • Lead, direct and develop quality assurance systems for teaching, learning and assessment across the curriculum working closely with the Head of Education and Programme Lead for Functional Life Skills.
  • Ensure that all Risk Assessments are professionally and effectively carried out, recorded appropriately and used to ensure the highest standards of student and staff welfare, health and safety.
  • Work with the SLT to develop the training opportunities of the hotel and ensure that it meets the training requirements and needs of our students.
  • To support student training in the process and procedures to ensure full compliance with HACCP, COSHH, Safer Food and Safer Business, and all other hygiene standards across the hotel

Successful Candidate Qualities
  • Experience in leading vocational training.
  • Experience in assessing NVQ Level 1.
  • Knowledge of assessing skills and knowledge using RARPA.
  • The skills to confidently manage a team.
  • A good understanding of quality assurance in an education or training setting, however training will be given on all processes.
  • The skills to work within the hotel departments where required.
