Group/Division

SPTS wafer processing solutions include market-leading silicon etch, dielectric etch, dry-release etch, PVD, PECVD and molecular vapor deposition (MVD®), available with a range of wafer-handling options applicable to R&D, pilot production, or volume production environments. SPTS is headquartered and has its main manufacturing facility in Newport, UK, with additional manufacturing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. SPTS operates across 19 countries in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, and offers comprehensive service and spare parts support through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.

Business Unit

We are responsible for the design, development, and manufacturing of high-tech capital equipment for the semiconductor and related global markets. Our Production Engineering Team are responsive in supporting the Manufacturing Team to ensure the production of capital equipment is running efficiently, to meet daily/quarterly/annual throughput and revenue targets.

Purpose of the role

This role represents an excellent opportunity for an Engineer who is looking to establish a career in a fast-growing, award-winning, global semiconductor company with a clearly defined career development path. The role will be focused upon supporting the production of high value capital equipment. To maximise production uptime the Production Engineer will investigate and address BOM, technical and quality issues reacting in real-time, and be expected to analyse and prevent issues occurring in future. Our Production Engineer will be involved in Lean Manufacturing projects, and New Product Introduction activities

Your Date To Day Responsibilities Will Include
  • Reacting to manufacturing issues in real time and gathering all required technical information
  • You will then present this data in a standardised format, to allow the quickest possible solution whilst also documenting the findings.
  • Supporting and documenting new product introduction to Manufacturing.
  • Creating maintenance and training plans for Shopfloor test equipment, lifting gear and safety equipment.
  • Raising Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in response to problems identified and implementing solutions using Agile PLM.
  • Optimising manufacturing driving reductions in Touch Labour content and improvement in Overall Labour Effectiveness (OLE).
  • Running projects to solve known issues working with stakeholders across Manufacturing, Design and Production Engineering

  • Can use practical mechanical, electrical, and electronic expertise when fault finding.
  • Is able to demonstrate excellent written and presentational skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex issues at all levels.
  • Familiarity with Machine Software packages would be advantageous
  • Has experience of using Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrates excellent attention to detail
  • Is organised and able to prioritise their own workload
  • Had demonstratable experience of reading mechanical and electronic drawings
  • Has a structured approach to fault finding with an ability to report on the data
  • Experience within the Semiconductor industry or other highly regulated industry is desirable but not essential
  • Is enthusiastic with a willingness to learn
  • Demonstrates determination, perseverance, and a desire to take ownership of any issue.
  • Can work to our current shift patterns of Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm (week 1) and 2pm to 10pm (week 2). A shift premium payment applies for any shifts worked.
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of HNC / HND qualified in Electrical, Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.

Minimum Qualifications

The candidate will be experienced as a Production/Manufacturing Engineer, ideally with a good electrical background. Other key skills:
  • Experience with Semiconductor industry plasma processing based capital equipment is desirable.
  • Good written and presentational skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex issues.
  • Familiarity with a relevant CAD package eg. SolidEdge, Solid Works or Autocad Electrical would be advantageous.
  • Good skills in regard to Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent attention to detail, organised and able to prioritise their own workload
