PRODUCTION ENGINEER

Location: Welshpool

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 DOE

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of R&D & Technical on a day-to-day basis and the Managing Director overall, the role of the Production Engineer is to support, grow and continuously improve the manufacture of high quality products.

  • You will take reasonable instructions from other heads of departments or directors and adhere to and ensure compliance with Company Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety policies while ensuring general housekeeping is carried out
  • Liaising with other departments to develop plans that improve production, costs, and labour required, sourcing any materials and equipment required
  • Diagnose problems in the production process, troubleshooting equipment and completing various administrative tasks in order to provide effective recommendations and training to staff
  • Establishing safety procedures and protocols that take the workers’ well-being into account and that also minimise the carbon footprint
  • Keeping abreast of advancements in production / engineering and analysing all facets of production to make recommendations for improvement
  • You will be expected to be an independent thinker and keen problem-solver

The Person:

  • Educated to HNC or above within a production, mechanical engineering or scientific discipline you will demonstrate high levels of technical expertise in industrial/manufacturing/production or process engineering
  • Experience in a fabrication / welding environment within the Engineering / Manufacturing industry
  • With well-honed Project Engineering skills you will be able to plan, organise and prioritise your work program introducing and documenting new methods of operating
  • Pro-active and able to influence others you will have excellent problem solving skills with knowledge of 8D, 6 Whys etc
  • Having a proactive and influencing style, you will possess strong communication skills, demonstrate a collaborative and inclusive approach with a customer focus
  • You will have a right first-time mentality and be an effective team-player
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CAD Software
