The Electronic Systems (ES) sector spans the commercial and defence electronics markets with a broad portfolio of mission-critical electronic systems, including flight and engine controls; electronic warfare and night vision systems; surveillance and reconnaissance sensors; secure networked communications equipment; geospatial imagery intelligence products and systems; mission management; and power-and energy-management systems. Production Engineer

Would you like the opportunity to work in a challenging role that combines Manufacturing, Production and Quality engineering responsibilities? If this is you, then we are currently recruiting for a Production Engineer to be based at our Electronic Systems site in Rochester, Kent.

This is a key role that will suit those with an interest in manufacturing within an exciting aerospace and defence manufacturing environment. More importantly, we seek individuals with the right behaviours, drive and willingness to learn and adapt as we provide personal development and training opportunities to complement the role.

This multi-disciplined role will allow you to Design, Implement, Monitor and Maintain the manufacturing systems and processes necessary to ensure product quality meets all our customer requirements.

Within the role you will work as part of a multi-functional team supporting a product family within the operations organisation.

Your Main Responsibilities As a Production Engineer Will Involve
  • Work within one of our Integrated Product Teams supporting Engineering and our shop floor Technicians
  • Create and improve processes and procedures to ensure efficient and effective manufacture of our products, including the use of PDM, ERP & MES tools to create assembly build instructions
  • Design and implement jigs, tools and fixtures to ease the assembly of product by our Technicians
  • Develop and maintain shop floor manufacturing lines, cells and equipment to provide a safe and lean manufacturing environment
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives within projects and across Operations to support the sites strategic objectives such as the adoption of industry 4.0 digital manufacturing
  • Ensure program quality requirements are met through all aspects of the product lifecycle
  • Support the resolution of quality issues through the structured application of problem solving and root cause analysis techniques
Essential

Your skills and qualifications:
  • Proven experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • HNC/HND or above in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent qualification or experience
Desirable
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree in a relevant technical discipline
  • Experience gained within an electronics or electro-mechanical environment would be highly advantageous
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacture principals
  • Lean six sigma experience, green belt or black belt accreditation
  • Experience in the application of Continuous Improvement and Root Cause & Corrective Action tools and techniques such as 5Y, 8D, PDCA, FMEA, fish bone and TPM
  • Experience in working with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of industry standards such as ISO9001, EN9100, AS9145 and FAA regulations
  • Experience in completion of internal and external product and process audits
What We’re Looking For In You

You will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written along with being highly organised with strong prioritisation skills. You will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and proactive and the ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work. You will also possess excellent problem solving skills which will be key to success in your role.

Location:Rochester, Kent UK

Salary:£32,000 - £42,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)
