Product Owner

Would you like to join a growing multi-disciplinary team within the Engineering Projects Group - Electrical Hardware (EPG-EH) within BAE Maritime Services? We currently have open vacancies for Product Owners, the roles are hybrid-based with occasional travel to Portsmouth (EPG site), customer/sub-contractor sites as required.

As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for managing the technical solution for a specific product type within the EPH-EH frameworks. You will assess, engineer and verify all aspects of the product to the necessary requirements this will be through a combination of your own experience and supporting functions. You will take lead in managing and attend (where required) all technical, sub-contract and qualification activities for the product.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to deliver complex electrical/mechanical product solutions within a challenging and fast-paced environment, where no two days are the same. The successful candidate will be able to oversee a full product lifecycle whilst developing existing skills and gaining exposure with the wider BAE Systems.

Your Main Responsibilities As a Product Owner Will Involve
  • Application of EPG-EH Frameworks to their Work Package
  • Interact with the Project Manager and Engineering Manager to deliver the product to schedule and budget
  • Prepare for and Drive Work Package Engineering Design Lifecycle Gate Reviews
  • Configuration Management of their allocated Work Package
  • Escalate Work Package Risks to the EPG-EH Project Manager and Engineering Manager
  • Escalate and Manage Technical Queries for attention of the customer
  • Engagement with internal stakeholders such as System Design Authority and Maritime Services Design Review Chairs
  • Formal Engagement with Customer Work Package Management Counterpart Provide technical guidance on areas of specific expertise within the team
Your Skills And Qualifications
  • Experience in relevant engineering fields (Mechanical/Electrical/Systems)
  • Experience with marine standards
  • Experience in multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle
  • Experience in undertaking peer reviews and presenting to design review panels
  • Good stakeholder management skills at all levels
Desirable
  • Experience in managing requirements compliance and Verification Cross Reference Index
  • Experience with DOORS (9.6 or NG) is preferable
Qualifications
  • Experience in relevant engineering fields (Mechanical/Electrical/Systems)
  • Capable of achieving the appropriate Professional Institution membership

You will be able to work well as a part of a team as well as on your own initiative, you must have good communication skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders as different levels.

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: Up to £55800, dependant on skills and experience
