Description: Product Owner - Connected Vehicle

Job Purpose
  • Assess the effect of dimensional variation on body and trim systems and components and optimise locators, tolerances and manufacturing processes to deliver the required whole-vehicle dimensional quality on new vehicle programmes.
  • Define and validate appropriate interface targets for all Interior and Exterior Design Surfaces to ensure DPQ attribute delivery and desensitisation to dimensional variation.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
  • Create, update and manage Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA) models to assess design-intent dimensional variation for body and trim system designs from concept through to engineering sign-off on new vehicle programmes.
  • Plan and conduct feasibility studies using DVA results, measurement data, component GD&T and bill-of-process information to predict the effect of variation on Optical Quality (OQ) interface targets and other dimensional characteristics relating to fit, function or product quality.
  • Accurately and concisely report out study results including predicted variation, contributor analysis and assumed tolerances and process capability
  • Define and validate appropriate OQ targets (gap / flushness / taper) aligned to vehicle attribute targets for all Interior and Exterior component design surface interfaces.
  • Develop and document locator and tolerance concepts for body and trim systems and validate component and fixture designs and specifications (GD&T) against these.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including commodity engineers, manufacturing engineering and supplier quality using established problem-solving methodologies to drive issues through to resolution in line with programme checkpoint and build-phase timing.
  • Conduct Dimensional PQ benchmarking studies to support future model target definition.
  • Define variation targets for all Body structure / Body-in-White measurements points derived from DVA results and lead the definition of efficient and effective measurement plans for process monitoring and problem investigation.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in Engineering (or manufacturing related subject)
  • Significant experience with 3D tolerance analysis is essential
  • Proven experience with defining and optimising locators and tolerances for components and assemblies
  • Prior experience of setting and validating dimensional targets for products or sub-assemblies
  • Previous responsibility for Dimensional Management tasks within product development in automotive, aerospace or a related industry sector.
  • Analysis and interpretation of measurement data including process capability assessment.
  • Experience of successfully leading technical problem-solving activities in a manufacturing or product development environment
  • Skilled in 3D tolerance analysis (ideally using Siemens VisVSA) and basic Root-Sum-Square tolerance stacks
  • Able to interrogate component designs within the PLM system (ideally familiar with Teamcentre and VisMockup)
  • Basic CAD skills (NX12.0) would be beneficial
  • Detailed knowledge of GD&T (ideally to BS8888) Able to review and interpret datum and tolerance information on component drawings and 3D CAD
  • Familiar with statistical tools and techniques including control charts, and process capability assessment (Cp / Cpk, sigma values etc)

Remuneration
  • Access to Mercedes and FCA car lease scheme.
  • Private Medical Cover - Single cover, Family cover at an additional cost.
  • Health Shield Cash Plan.
  • 26 days annual leave + statutory bank holidays.
  • Company Performance Bonus Scheme.
  • Discount on our lease schemes with variety manufactures
  • Company pension scheme - Initial 3% company contributions rising (after two years’ service) to double-matched company contributions of up to 12%.
  • A wide range of discounts with associated partners.
