About The Team.

We are looking for someone who is driven and forward thinking to join as a Product Manager in the Retail Tribe. Previous experience working in either a Product/Data role or Buying/Merchandising is essential.

Squads & Tribes Model:

For us this means a cross-functional team and structure. The overall Tribe will have a subset of teams, or as we call them, Squads. Each with a mission to solve specific business challenges.

This working model differs drastically from traditional cross-functional teams that typically focus on a single project. Our squads are essentially small start-ups that will take on multiple projects at a time, building a part of a product, or even creating a full new product. Since each squad is made up of contributors or owners from every domain – from tech, product, delivery, and data – all squads have the breadth and the depth in terms of skill to for end-to-end ownership of their area.

The Product Manager’s role is to ensure that we are “building the right things” to deliver the business and/or customer benefit desired.

About The Role.

Data is at the heart of all retail decisions. As a Product Manager in the Retail Tribe, you will lead the reinvention of our tools our colleagues use to support their trading, assortment, availability and pricing decisions.

This role represents a great opportunity to be at the heart of rewriting retail technology and processes for Very and will be fundamental in helping us shape and deliver our ambitious plans.

We’re on an exciting journey to transform our technology estate and create even better experiences for our customers and colleagues. We’re doing that by modernising our existing systems and platforms, utilising a wide variety of market beating, cloud-based technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:
  • Support in the planning process for the Elec Categories assisting Commercial Manager and Heads of Category to shape budgets and assortment size, producing category and departmental roll ups also challenging teams on sales and stock phasing budgets. Ensure plans are robust within strategic ambitions and share plans with Finance / Elec Commercial team.
  • Provide commercial performance insight & commercial modelling to support category managers, producing and sharing daily reporting on Category performance, provide the weekly forecast view and propose actions to address.
  • Support Commercial Manager with trading decisions driven by performance insight, scenario planning, promo planning & departmental forecasts (working closely with commercial finance and DI).
  • Reports on brand/supplier performance vs prior year and business plans agreed.
  • Provide promotional activity reporting on YoY variances, compliancy and forecasting margin impact, incorporate any revised activity into forecasts.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

We are seeking passionate, ambitious individuals who have first-rate communication skills.

You will have worked in multi-disciplined teams in a large-scale, fast-moving digital business, that are a mix of business, delivery and technical roles combined with experience of managing 3rd Party providers.

Practical experience of Product Ownership in a lean / agile environment is essential, using the appropriate agile project management methodology, learning & iterating frequently.

You will be an outstanding leader and role model within your team, demonstrating a strong delivery ethic using Agile values and principles through your thinking, processes and actions.

The ability to work within a dynamic and changing environment where priorities and activities will be changing is vital. You will be able to respond energetically and proactively to drive change at a fast pace to help deliver the Retail Strategy roadmap.
