Position SummaryInnovative products have been key to business growth and the ability to properly manage its product portfolio is seen as essential to continued success. Product management has recently been established in the group and is recognised as adding clear business value. The business now wishes to enhance its product management capability, strengthen its in-life management and introduce a more structured approach to product development. In conjunction with the Sales Manager, the Product Manager will support the developing and delivering of the annual financial and development plan. The key responsibilities of the role include:Review and understand the current product ranges, their functionality, performance and market position Actively manage the in-life performance of the current product ranges, including sales and marketing support, reviewing product technical and commercial performance, and production support. Develop and gain agreement to a medium term road map and short term development plan Prepare and gain agreement to appropriate business cases and development requirement specifications Manage the introduction of agreed developments into the product range Introduce formal product management at a level that is appropriate for the business and product range, and continually review the need for additional structure as the business grows and processes become embedded Position Requirements In depth understanding of the relevant marketplace An understanding of the value of product management within a technology business and 5+ years’ experience in product management in a relevant market. 5+ years’ experience of collecting and making sense of diversely held product information. 5+ years’ experience of in-life management of a product portfolio including product launch, pricing, positioning, enhancement, technical and commercial performance management, and end of life. 5+ years’ experience of developing and gaining agreement to a product roadmap that balances short and medium terms demands, and addresses the diverse opportunities presented by the market, the development team and technology 5+ years’ experience of preparing requirement specifications and business cases Proven commitment to continual development of skills and technical knowledge Highly motivated with a very strong personal drive and enthusiasm to overcome engineering challenges and a keen interest in engineering The ability to analyse and predict market trends Strong management experience and working with a team Previous Sales and Marketing experience would be an advantage Customer relationship and communication skills Experience of working in a small or fast growing business Able and willing to travel Person Specification A relevant first class degree or equivalent in engineering, electronics or mechanical Certified Product Owner with 5+ years’ experience Project management and relevant marketing qualification Ability to identify priorities and lead the department to work effectively on day-to-day issues Ability to identify and describe opportunities for improvements and to implement longer term change Strong analytical skills, able to identify and work with key metrics, draw conclusions and communicate insights Expresses ideas effectively using a range of communication styles, skills and processes A hands-on leader, able to motivate and coach their team, and lead by example Good project management skills, able to balance short and medium-term goalsIf you are interested in hearing more please contact Dan on - (phone number removed) or (url removed)
