PURPOSE OF POSITION

The product manager is the owner of a product portfolio and responsible for driving profitable growth, including all aspects of product management from market strategy development, competitive assessments to multi-generational product plan development, pricing execution, and product lifecycle management. The product manager is also responsible for driving new product development, including all aspects of NPD from identification of new market opportunities, voice-of-customer, business case development, GTM planning, and new product commercialization.

Essential Functions
  • Perform market analysis, market sizing, competitive analysis, SWOT analysis, & opportunity analysis
  • Develop customer segmentation, define key adopters / influencers and develop messaging appropriate for each
  • Define portfolio / solution strategy with sustainable differentiation for your portfolio of products or assigned / market segment or region; define the multi-generational product roadmap and actively manage portfolio
  • Develop and communicate a vision of the future state of the business, define what a winning solution / team looks like, and build followership around your vision
  • Own the revenue growth and profitability for your portfolio or assigned market / regional segment
  • Develop and execute your “Go to Market” plan that will engage the commercial organizations in helping you drive market success
  • Develop and maintain all content and messaging to be used for collateral development, competitive positioning, Sales training, Partner enablement, and corporate marketing
  • Develop and deliver field and sales training around solutions meeting the needs of the global regions, partner segments and customer base
  • Engage customers to validate business case, support design in activity, define next generation solutions as needed
  • Accurately forecast the revenue, product mix, and profitability from your portfolio
  • Set the list pricing and price escalation rules for your portfolio in line with your strategic business plan / go to market
  • Set expectations for yourself and your team to ensure that you are tracking to your objectives and utilizing the appropriate tools
Education & Experience Required –
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Marketing
  • Prior experience in Marketing or Product Management
  • Strategy consulting experience a plus
  • Strong presentation and data analytics skills
  • Demonstrated success in NPI
  • Demonstrated ability to question status quo and drive change successfully
  • Time management and priority setting
