Organisation

My client provides cloud accounting and payroll software for thousands of small businesses and accountants. They sell their software through three channels: (a) direct to SMEs through our website; (b) via accountants to their clients; and (c) via large, strategic partners who have small business customers.

Their mission is to empower micro-businesses to better understand and manage their finances.

The role

Recruiting an experienced Product Manager to drive forward the achievement of our product vision for accounting, tax, and payroll software. The right candidate will be a mature and successful product professional who can balance trade-offs at all levels, from intricate details to high level, own the outcome, and efficiently communicate during the process.

You will quickly grasp abstract concepts and complex requirements and distil them to their core needs to deliver innovative, functional, and compliant solutions across online, mobile, and APIs. You will have a portfolio demonstrating where you have done this in the past, with numbers to showcase your success.

Reporting to the Head of Product, you will work with customers, technical, and non-technical stakeholders to accelerate the achievement of our product vision. You will have demonstrated experience in independently leading the delivery of products/features from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Explore aspects of the product strategy, talking to users to understand their needs and articulate the value in solving their problem
• Work hand-in-hand with the Head of Product, Engineering Manager, and UX Designer (who you will line manage) to design solutions to achieve the business objectives
• Articulate your decisions by demonstrating how your research supports your conclusions
• Work with the agile scrum process to quickly deliver impressive software that delights your users and drives business outcomes
• Coordinate product releases with customers, employees and other stakeholders
• Contribute to the definition of the product roadmap
• Work closely with the development team to execute the product roadmap ensuring on-time delivery of initiatives
• Ensure all activity is completed to a standard reflective of their brand
• Be the expert and “go-to” on your product

Requirements

• 3-5 years in digital product management for SaaS products
• Ability to get your hands dirty; we are a small and tight-knit team with a strong hands-on culture
• Strong experience working with software developers, technical and non-technical stakeholders, to deliver compelling software together
• Strong experience in accounting, tax, or another similar industry like retail banking, insurance, or payments
• Track record of delivering amazing digital experiences that are built upon APIs and integrated systems
• Ability to propose and evaluate a trade-off between alternatives, and articulate why
• Exceptional communication skills at all levels
• Strong project management and documentation skills
• Experience with agile scrum
• Relevant academic qualification
