YEF GB302 - Procurement Specialist –Project Buyer
Yokogawa UK has a key opportunity for a highly motivated Procurement Specialist to join our existing talented team. You will be a confident communicator and a positive self-starter, ideally having gained experience within the service/engineering industry.
Reporting to the Procurement & Sub-contracts Manager, your primary focus will be to provide commercial procurement support to our valued stakeholders and customers at Yokogawa UK. This is a diverse role and requires you to optimise the supply base, improve sourcing value, secure supply, ensure procurement controls compliance and drive procurement sustainability for our Procurement Categories.
Your remit as Procurement Specialist –Project Buyer will include:
1. Project procurement:
  • Support engineering & design projects by managing the procurement process from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with project teams to understand their procurement requirements, specifications, and timelines.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their suitability for the project in line with the customer & company specifications
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with project goals and budget constraints.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring favourable terms and conditions.
  • Monitor procurement progress, resolve any issues, and provide regular updates to project stakeholders.
  • Expedite the supply chain to ensure on time delivery of goods & services
2 Other responsibilities
  • Build and leverage partnerships with preferred suppliers
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve any issues, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Manage supplier set up & due diligence process as well as supplier performance measurement
  • Plan and execute day-to-day direct & indirect procurement activities for our stakeholders, including:
    • Define the Requests for Quotation (RFQ) with the functional and/or technical specification from Line-management or any other stakeholder organisation
    • Manage the Request For Quotation process: issue the RFQ’s, collect the quotations (bids), coordinate the technical evaluation and perform the commercial and total evaluation of the quotations
    • Manage supplier contract management & administration
    • Manage the escalation of purchase orders in compliance with the agreed supplier frame agreement and technical and commercial requirements
    • Control and expedite the procurement and supply process ensuring that goods and services arrive at agreed time in accordance with terms & conditions with suppliers and agreements with our customers
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with stakeholders to understand the business needs and achieve mutual understanding and acceptance for the procurement strategy for Yokogawa UK
  • Work closely with the European procurement team who needs to execute the European procurement strategy
  • Work in accordance with the company code of conduct and procurement policy
About your skills:
  • CIPS qualified or working towards / willingness to undertake qualification
  • Business Degree is desirable although not essential
  • Proven technical/project procurement experience in the construction industry is desirable although not essential
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts is desirable although not essential
  • You will be conversant with the procurement to pay process, including supplier selection, tendering, negotiation and contracting, as well as supplier onboarding and supplier management principles
  • Experienced with MS Office applications
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Stress-resistant with high attention to detail
  • You have high integrity and ethics, with a passion for learning. You love challenging yourself to constantly improve
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and negotiation skills coupled with good verbal and written communication skills

  • Standard working hours are Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5:00pm, Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Flexibility will be required to meet customer and business needs
  • Superb benefits including company pension contribution up to 12.5% dependent upon criteria, private medical insurance and healthcare scheme, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays with increments based on length of service
This is a permanent position, with our offices based at Runcorn. We provide a healthy work-life balance with a blend of working from home and the office. There may be a requirement to travel to customer & supplier sites in Europe, the UK, offshore and overseas as required.
