We currently have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Category Buyer to join our team in Operations and Maintenance Procurement supporting Gwynt Y Môr Offshore Wind Farm.

Role description

You will be responsible for the successful delivery of the operational requirements of the wind farm in accordance with the Employer’s Responsibilities under the Wind Farm service contract and in line with Company policies and the Wind Farm owners’ procedures.

Alongside this you will provide procurement support to the Category Managers on major projects/individual contracts ensuring the successful delivery as well as other aspects of the procurement lifecycle to ensure both operational and business requirements are met.

The successful candidate will be part of a central team of Procurement experts within RWE Renewables, and will be required to support activities on other renewable assets beyond Gwynt y Môr

Principal Accountabilities

  • Support the Category Manager in the delivery of Employer’s Responsibilities under the Gwynt y Môr Service and Warranty Agreement.
  • Work closely with the Offshore project team to understand current and future demand for external supplier engagement
  • Preparation of tender documentation, together with the evaluation, negotiation and award of contracts to ensure that cost effective procurement is achieved for the supply of goods and services.
  • Build and maintain effective supplier relationships to ensure that their performance consistently meets and, at times, exceeds business expectations.
  • Proactive and effective support of the RWE Procurement network, supporting with fleetwide contracts and assisting other sites.
  • Identify and exploit commonality in supply chain demand across projects.
  • Support the Category Manager with the management of Key Performance Indicators for various contracts and extend knowledge/lessons learnt to similar demand requirements on other projects.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate procurement/Project/Contract records
  • Prepare monthly/ad hoc reports
  • Provide general commercial support to the Team
  • Assist with the building of management information and reporting structures both Project specific and Procurement general performance
  • Understand and apply agreed contract terms and conditions
  • Advise and support Customer/Team on appropriate procurement methods/strategies and identify supply chain risks.

Skills and experience

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines with a challenging workload
  • Experience in Procurement, ideally in a Project/Construction context
  • Proven capability in managing tendering processes
  • Currently hold or working towards CIPS qualification desired, or a willingness to study for this qualification.
