Procurement Leader – Subcontract Management

Would you like to play a key role in the Submarine Supply Chain? We currently have vacancies for Subcontract Management Leader’s at our sites in Frimley, Filton, Weymouth or Portsmouth Broad Oak.

Reporting to the In-Service Supply Chain Manager , you will be responsible for the delivery of the Submarines unit Supply Chain requirements, ensuring materials and services are provided within budget, to schedule and in full compliance with the technical and quality requirements.

This role will provide you with a challenging & evolving environment where no days are the same; you will have regular interaction with suppliers, customers & programme teams to drive delivery performance. You will learn new skills and gain exposure to many different facets of the Submarine business.

Your main responsibilities as a Subcontract Management Leader will involve:

Responsible for the performance of key supplier contracts, relationships & deliverables

Being the single point of focus for your area of responsibility

Developing, competing and managing contracts in accordance with all the Supply Chain processes and procedures

Supporting the following Supply Chain programme activities
  • Cost control
  • Risk Management & Mitigation
  • Supplier plan development for deliverables and activities
  • Spend management
  • Supplier Performance (SPR)
  • Continuous Improvement

Facilitating and/or leading the Lifecycle management requirements associated with the work package and that of the team.

There is an expectation for you to visit supplier sites across the UK, and travel to our other business unit facilities as required.

Your Skills And Qualifications

E xcellent collaborative experience, being able to find a way of working with a number of stakeholders

Have the ability to interpret Supplier performance metrics and to work with suppliers to address performance shortfalls

Good problem solving within continuous improvement activity

Good knowledge of all financial aspects of the suppliers work from cost accountant management reviews, and understanding what actions need to be taken if performance in these areas is not meeting the desired standard

Major subcontract management experience in major equipment or upgrades would be a transferable skill

Project management experience would be very beneficial

Maritime – Submarines

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
