The Procurement Specialist is responsible for the supporting the purchasing, planning, supply and logistics of items for new build projects and operational requirements for the existing fleet ensuring the best possible solutions for the Company in terms of product quality, provisioning, cost and overall standards ensuring project timeline adherence and delivery.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within a similar role including strategic sourcing;
  • Degree educated in a related field;
  • Certification from (or working towards) Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) (preferred but not essential);
  • Experience of using Procurement systems (eg Oracle / SAP applications);
  • PC literacy with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Essential);
  • Strong relationship management skills;
  • Change management experience;
  • Project Management;
  • Ability to think outside the box and challenge the norm;
  • Resilient, driven, and can-do approach and mentality.
  • Works to MSC Procedures and Policies procure goods and services for new build and rest of fleet requirements. Supports the constant evolution of the Procedures and Policies;
  • Works with key stakeholders (multi-site), establishes holistic category plans with specific sub-category planning to achieve wider department objectives;
  • Supports the Procurement department with analytics focusing on contract management, e-procurement bidding, supply market reporting, and commodity tracking;
  • Works with key stakeholders, establishes framework agreements with key suppliers;
  • Structures negotiation plans for negotiations with external providers to obtain the best commercial agreement, including preferential payment and INCO terms;
  • Works with operational departments, constantly review stock and expected deliveries to ensure that optimum arrangements are in place without a negative impact on the operation;
  • Supports department owners and Procurement with category and supply base knowledge;
  • Manages RFQ and bids through utilising the MSC PEP e-Procurement tool;
  • Manages the flow of product and service requisitions;
  • Produces periodic reporting, including supplier performance against predetermined KPI’s, including weekly expected receipt reports.
