Job Requirements

This position has responsibility leading, facilitating, driving and setting the Process Safety standards for new Platform manufacturing facilities; understanding processes and ensuring process safety risks are driven to ALARP (Recommended Good Practice).

This position reports to the Director Platforms, Operations Engineering. Works frequently and closely with all of the Platforms Project Management team to meet the needs of the organization in terms of Company Process Safety and HAZOP management. Responsibility for all Platforms Project Engineering team activity across the globe and will be primarily working at both the Widnes UK and New Carlisle USA facilities as required, but is expected to travel to locations involved with new platform technology across the globe.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for coordinating and managing Process safety with the Project Engineering Team, focusing resource accordingly in relation to business requirements.
  • Ensure Functional Safety lifecycle (IEC61511) is applied to new and existing installation within scope.
  • Identifying compliance needs and provide advice to other members of the project team. Specify the requirements and estimate costs for implementation of improvement activities.
  • Assess hazardous areas against published standards and regulations, Specify and conduct risk assessments in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Oversee and manage 3rd party contracts when required to assist with work, such as with points 5 and 6 above.
  • Ensure that project work is conducted within budget and timescale and in accordance procedures.
  • Work effectively as part of a small team of both other employees and sub-contractors.
  • Monitor effectiveness of all processes and work with peers to modify procedures and implement change to improve efficiency and accuracy of work.
  • Ensure Key Performance Indicators are established and reviewed to maintain compliance.
  • Ensuring that maintenance and production standards are observed and applied. Developing technical capability within the team.
Qualifications/ Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in either electrical, mechanical, process, or chemical engineering.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in either relevant industrial or manufacturing environments
  • An understanding of the application of DSEAR to industrial premises
  • Be able to of interpret engineering drawings, plot/site layout plans and piping and instrument PID diagrams.
  • knowledge and experience of the practical application of Management of safety of installations in potentially flammable and explosive atmospheres across a number of business manufacturing sectors. Hazardous area classification of dust environments.
  • All applicable legislation, including COMAH, PUWER, and DSEAR
  • Electricity at work regulations and management of Health and Safety and OSHA Regulations.
