Is full time study not your thing? But not sure what job to do? Do you want to earn money and gain some extra qualifications? Keen to stay local to Prudhoe?

At Essity we manufacture and sell products that are used every day, we break taboos and challenge convention, all with the intention of breaking down barriers to health and well-being globally.

We own and manufacture many leading brands. Cushelle toilet tissue and Plenty kitchen roll are two of our leading tissue brands, both manufactured in the UK.

We want you to help us maintain production of these essential products for the future and create new innovative ways of working. Join us as a Process Apprentice and you will gain the skills to make a positive contribution to our business and reach your full potential.

About the role
You may be surprised how complex the end-to-end process is to make a roll of toilet roll. At our Prudhoe site we make enough tissue to stretch to Newcastle every 10 minutes, and enough to reach the moon and back twice every year.

Join Essity as a Process Apprentice at our Prudhoe site and you will have the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge to contribute to our manufacturing processes. With a strong history of recruiting and developing apprenticeships, you will join an experienced team with a passion for coaching new members of the team.

We’re looking for people who embody our values, aren’t afraid to challenge, innovate, experiment, and move at a fast pace. We’re always looking for ways to improve our products and ourselves. If this is you, we’d love to talk.

What you will do
Over 18 months you will follow the Maintenance Engineering Technology standard which includes a BTEC level 2 qualification in Manufacturing. This will be delivered as on-the-job training with support from a tutor at our local partner college.

You will also have support from a dedicated mentor and the opportunity to study modules in Essity’s global Manufacturing Academy, a bespoke training programme.

Your work-based learning will focus on:
  • how to operate the machinery both effectively and safely
  • understanding key manufacturing systems, including an awareness of production costs.
  • how to undertake maintenance of the machine including some mechanical responsibilities
  • completing audits
  • how to ensure production meets quality standards

On completion of your apprenticeship, you will be ready for a manufacturing operations role.

Who are you?
We would love to hear from you if you can show the following.
  • A minimum of GCSE grade 3/D (predicted or already achieved) in maths, English (and also preferably in science)
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • You can solve problems independently and as part of a team
  • You can communicate and work well with others
  • You like to challenge yourself and prove to yourself you can achieve things

This is a shift-based role; therefore, you’ll need to be 18 years old by the start date. The attractive shift pattern allows you to work four 12-hour shifts (two days and two nights) followed by six days off.

This role will start in September 2022.

What we can offer you
In return we offer an excellent starting salary (above the national minimum apprentice wage), plus annual bonus opportunity, competitive pension scheme, health cash plan, workwear, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Apply now so you don’t lose out on this fantastic opportunity.
