Our client is looking to recruit a Printer to work on an ongoing basis at their facility in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.

Duties Will Include

Adhering to the scheduled production program Efficient operation of the press to achieve optimum run speeds, make ready times and required productivity / waste targets. Where targets are not achieved, the lead printer is responsible for reporting any limiting factors to the leading hand and print manager, and recording details on the daily production log Checking raw materials and film specifications against the laysheet and production schedule to ensure they are correct, with no irregularities regarding size, treatment, coatings etc or defects such as creasing, slack edges, loss of opacity etc Documenting press conditions of any first run designs, for use on all future print runs Ensuring anilox sleeves and rollers are cleaned in accordance with procedure; sleeves are returned to designated storage after use and any damage identified is reported the leading hand / print manager immediately Checking print plates for any signs of damage or deterioration; and reporting any issues to the plate librarian Quarantining suspect raw materials / poor quality product and completing appropriate paperwork Handling and use of hazardous / highly flammable solvents & inks; ensuring substances are stored safely; containers are kept lidded when not in use and appropriate PPE is worn to prevent personal exposure Frequent and thorough monitoring throughout production to ensure that all work produced is : Of the highest possible standard and free from defect Accurate to the design laysheet, colour standard and customers specification Utilise the Frontline Management Software System to report all engineering issues to the Engineering Department Organising press crew breaks to facilitate continuous running of the press and maximise production. Any deviation from continuous running must be authorised in advance by the leading hand and print manager. Ensuring the print assistant carries out his duties correctly and efficiently, in accordance with any training and instructions provided; work with the assistant during press turnarounds to ensure lean techniques are adhered to and press downtime is minimized Carry out weekly machine safety checks and recording outcome on relevant documentation Accurately input production data in to the work station computer. Ensuring that all shift time is accounted for using appropriate waste and downtime codes. Recording of relevant information; completion of paperwork and labels; maintaining traceability throughout process Inform / consult with the print leading hand on any departmental related issues Manual handling of reels and various press components; use of lifting and handling equipment Use & handling of sharp blades Communicating with the printer on the previous / following shift at shift hand-over. Assisting in other areas of the print department where required

Shifts

Follow a 4on 4off shift pattern consistence of:

2x Day Shifts - 6:00am - 6:00pm 2x nights - 6:00pm - 6:00am

Payrate

£16.07ph
