At Flooid we are looking for a Principal Front-End Software Engineer to join our team and support us to deliver the next generation of POS software to our customers.

You and The Role

As a Principal Front-End Software Engineer, you will be working with our Front-End Architect to evolve and implement Micro Front-End (MFE) capability within the platform. Building out the client-side framework for cross cutting capabilities that will allow front-end engineers to easily add functionality and value to a growing suite of applications.

Primary duties include:

  • Evolving, maintaining, and contributing to the Micro Front-End client strategy for the Flooid platform.
  • Documenting design principles for technical and non-technical audiences, communicating those designs and governing their implementation.
  • Generating POC and reference architecture application stacks which is a focal point for engineering implementation of architectural patterns within an MFE ecosystem.
  • Work within engineering teams to deliver features for our core product set or for projects which are in line with the Product front-end architectural patterns.
  • Assist in the development of the front-end application build, test, and automation frameworks.
  • Work with a small architecture team to ensure compatibility between the front-end components and the platform service API’s.
  • Coach and pair with front-end engineers to deliver functionality to time and quality.

The Team

You will work with our wider team within the Flooid architecture group (Principal Engineers and Software Architects) who are enthusiastic about being expert in what they do. They have brilliant industry knowledge and experience. The team is responsible for covering what we build and how we build it, making it easy for engineers to add value within our systems and ensuring that this value is passed on to Flooid’s customers in the Products that we create.

Skills and Experiences

A successful Principal Front-End Software Engineer at Flooid will have experience in front end application development using JavaScript, Node, Angular, Cordova, Ionic and TypeScript within the IOS and Android technology stacks.

You will need to bring:

  • Experience of MFE build, delivery and intercommunication strategies working with the single-spa framework or an equivalent.
  • Knowledge of communication with back-end service API’s using Http, ReST, JSON.
  • UI/UX expertise within responsive web applications.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD and distributed source control toolsets.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Cypress and Jasmine.
  • Effective communication skills and be able to work with technical and non-technical team members to solve problems.

The experience we would like you to have:

  • Experience of evolving existing UI application stacks to an MFE model.
  • Knowledge of browser compatibility and performance optimisation.
  • NoSQL database capability, previous usage of MongoDB is a plus.

You should be able to work confidently on an independent basis and as part of a team, across a wide variety of company initiatives.

Contract Type:Permanent

Hours:Full Time, 37.5 hours per week.
