Job Description:
Microchip’s MPU32 group offers microprocessors which rightly balances the performance, power, cost and comes with advanced security capabilities which caters to a multitude of applications. With a broad set of peripherals and interfaces, these MPUs can support a wide range of applications. Point of sales systems, home and industrial automation systems, automotive infotainment etc. are just a few among various supported end uses.
As a Principal SoC Verification Engineer in the MPU32 group, you will work with our multi-sited global Silicon Development Team in design verification of our complex SoCs. The role includes development of verification plan, testbench and test developments for subsystem and SoC verification, running simulations etc. A successful candidate will also be responsible for training and mentoring junior engineers to grow the team. This position requires a proactive and highly motivated candidate with a proven record of silicon success and work experience in a multi-site, multi-function team environment. Candidate must have 10 – 12 years of experience in verification.
Responsibilities
  • Verification of complex subsystems and SOCs using a mix of UVM and C
  • Understanding IP, SoC requirements and architecture specifications
  • Work with IP/architecture/application teams to develop integration verification plan to meet chip level requirements.
  • Develop testbenches, scoreboard, monitors and tests using UVM methodology
  • C Tests for SoC verification
  • Performance verification
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams in architecture and IP evaluations, performance, pre and post silicon validation
  • Optimal usage of assertions, formal tools and UVM to ensure bug free SoCs
  • Hold verification reviews, perform coverage analysis, etc. to meet quality goals
  • Provide guidance to team members
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Proficient in digital design and verification methodologies
  • Excellent understanding of System on Chip architectures
  • Working experience and thorough understanding of ARM AMBA bus protocols
  • Working experience in complex SoC verification projects
  • Expertise in SystemVerilog-UVM
  • Good Understanding of C
  • Expertise in industry standard Simulators (Xcelium, Modelsim, VCS/Verdi)
  • Previous experience and proficiency in any one of commonly used scripting languages (Perl, Python)
  • Excellent debug skills in both functional and gate level simulations
  • Good Knowledge and experience in verification of some among the SOC components such as:
    • DDR/LPDDR SDRAM
    • CAN, I3C, GMAC, PCIe, USB
    • Security IPs like DES, AES, SHA
    • MIPI DSI/CSI, GPU, Video Codec IPs
    • IP Interconnects
    • ARM Trustzone, Coresight
  • Knowledge of revision control mechanisms
  • Superior Written and Verbal Communication skills
  • Experience working with cross functional global teams

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with ARM Cortex CPU based SoCs
  • Expertise in formal verification – Jasper FPV, Connectivity etc.
  • Experience in Emulation/pre silicon validations
  • Experience in ISO26262 based SoC design flows
  • Knowledge and exposure to complete SOC RTL to GDS to silicon release flow is desired
  • Experience in leading teams
Required Education:

BE/BTech or ME/MTech in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with 10+ years of experience
