Based in Cambridge (with flexible home working options), the Principal Opto-Mechanical Engineer will be joining a proven successful organisation in part of their newly acquired Technology department. The technology is state of the art and the working environment will have a start up feel, but with the backing of a global organisation.

The Principal Opto-Mechanical Design Engineer will be developing the next generation of products covering all stages of product development from concept through to transfer to manufacture, other responsibilities will include developing experimental test systems to support the design of individual components and both optical and mechanical. This position could also include sustainable growth of the mechanical team, include day to day management and professional development of the growing team.

Additional Experience Includes

The successful candidate will have a good relevant degree with extensive post graduate experience in mechanical design, a PhD and Masters would be beneficial.
  • A proven background in Opto-Mechanical Design, which could also include photonic systems, micromechanics or MEMS Fabrication
  • 3D CAD (preferably Solidworks)
  • Experience designing bespoke components for a variety of fabrication processes including CNC machining and additive manufacturing.
  • Also of interest is a background in transferring mechanically complex products into volume manufacture.
