See what WSP stands for in 2023 and beyond…To find out more about our business click on the following link and discover what awaits you at WSP: https://www.wsp.com/en-gb/what-we-doFollowing their recent acquisition from Capita PLC, the Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure (REI) and GL Hearn businesses are now part of WSP.Your new role, what’s involved?Redstart is a Joint Venture between WSP and Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend and Merthyr County Borough Councils undertaking circa £10m of work per annum as well as providing a design support service on other local authority frameworks and private developers across South Wales.We are searching for a Principal Engineer (Drainage) with a strong infrastructure background who can demonstrate significant experience in designing drainage and highways schemes. Your experience must include sustainable drainage systems, and any further infrastructure experience will be advantageous.We are looking to resource our current and forward workload opportunities in long term engineering services frameworks across South Wales, including the Redstart Joint Venture Partnership with three local authorities.You will be a core member of our growing Infrastructure team based in the Cardiff area, working closely with the Infrastructure Lead and the Drainage team.What you’ll be doing:
  • Leading the development of drainage solutions for highway, infrastructure and flood alleviation schemes from feasibility, throughout planning, tender, detailed design and construction stages.
  • Using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Causeway Flow drainage design software.
  • Designing sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) with successful experience of SAB applications.
  • Designing contemporary environmental solutions to manage land drainage.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). Ideally Chartered (or working towards) with the ICE.
  • Significant post degree experience or extensive and proven experience post HNC/HND.
  • Thorough understanding of drainage design principles including foul, surface water, land drainage and SuDS.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the SAB process.
  • Clear evidence of successful management of projects/programmes and teams to meet both quality and commercial targets.
  • Be adept with Civil 3D and Causeway Flow, be well-versed in the preparation of notes and specifications sufficient for technical approvals and construction, ideally with experience of Section 38/278 highway schemes and Section 104/106 drainage schemes.
  • Producing drainage design calculations, models, detail design drawings & specifications.
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, Design Standards, Codes of Practice and Health & Safety regulations.
