Primary Teacher KS2Salary 29,000 - 39,000 per annumLocation: CalderdaleAre you an experienced or newly qualified Primary Teacher seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners?Leader Education is working with a specialist SEMH school to recruit 2 Primary Teachers to teach, support and inspire Key Stage 2 learners identified with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs.Each learner has an EHCP an IEP that must be adhered to. Each class will have up to 6 learners at any time and you will be supported by 2 specialist Learning Support Assistants.This is a unique educational setting where students may struggle to regulate their own emotions and behaviour.This is a permanent contract to start in September, or sooner if possible.About The SchoolThe school is an independent SEMH school that provides education to 7-18 year olds.The school uses a restorative approach to conflict which allows pupils to quickly reintegrate into their learning. The school uses various therapies to help support the students.Role And Responsibilities
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes a love of learning, self-confidence, and resilience.
  • Adhere to education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and abilities of each student.
  • Support students in managing their emotions and behaviours through effective behaviour management strategies and interventions.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and external professionals involved in the student’s support network.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and external agencies, to ensure coordinated support for each student.
  • Utilise a range of teaching techniques and resources to engage and inspire students with diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and implementing targeted interventions to support their development.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment where diversity is celebrated and all students feel valued and supported.
Qualifications And Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience working with students with challenging behaviour, emotional difficulties, or SEN is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to adapt strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Team Teach would be advantageous
  • Trauma Informed Practise would be advantageous
  • Resilience, patience, and a positive mindset to effectively support through challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Passion for working with students who face additional barriers to learning and a commitment to making a difference in their lives.
