Main duties of the job

To lead the development and management of primary care optometry services within the Areas, including implementation of new optometry primary care contracts and strategies.

To lead performance management arrangements for primary care optometry within the Areas in relation to national targets and primary care optometry contract targets.

To lead on specific issues in relation to development of policies, plans & procedures for Primary Care optometry in North Wales.

Working with the Head of Primary Care Contracting, develop and agree implementation and monitoring arrangements which ensure consistency across North Wales for delivery via area teams.

To provide advice and expertise on Area primary care optometry issues in relation to commissioning, contracts, and performance to the Area Management Teams and to contractors.

Responsible for day to day management of the allocated Primary Care Contracting team members.

The post holder will be expected to work with staff within own area and across the Primary Care Contracting team to develop effective integrated team working in order to deliver PCC operational plans. This may involve taking responsibility for work that extends beyond the post holder’s specific job role, but remains within their equivalent level of authority and professional accountability
