Overview of the role purpose and objectives:

We are a well-established, East Midlands-based commercial Printers, who are celebrating 26 years in business, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual who’s passionate about providing the very highest levels of work.

As a Pre Press Mac Operator you would be required to provide internal artwork, proofing and prepress service using a combination of Adobe Suite and Imposition Software, to ensure Clients’ print and artwork requirements are met and ready for plate making or to be sent direct to press.

One of the main objectives will be to ensure accuracy of artwork and design to minimise re-work and print errors.

Main responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Receive job bag instructions and check status of artwork and proof. Liaise with CSR/ client.
  • Use Insite and Prinergy and work checklist
  • Checking whole document/image/graphic for accuracy and visual impact, and ensuring proofs and mock-ups are approved and signed off by the client or CSR in accordance with agreed workflow procedures
  • Communicating and updating all relevant departments on any changes to client instructions and ensuring job bags are amended by CSRs accordingly
  • General maintenance of pre-press studio equipment.
  • Ensure all studio jobs are completed on time and within the schedule
  • Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and support business and organisational development
  • Adhere to health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipment.

Skills Required:

  • Proficient MAC and PC user
  • Proficient in editing and publishing software such as ADOBE Creative Suite, Pitstop
  • Experience with Insite, Kodak Prinergy, workflow MIS software such as PACE (Desirable)
  • Litho impositions (Desirable)

Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in litho and digital print environment
