Applications are invited for the post of Residential Post room operative in the Commercial services Department

The College covers an area of 135 acres with a staff of 1500 and over 9000 students all of whom require an organised and effective postal service. Our post team processes over 12,500 items every week ensuring they are all recorded, sorted and delivered as quickly as possible.

The Residential Services team is looking to recruit a motivated Post Room Operative to be responsible for delivering an organised and efficient postal service from our residential post room. Our Post room Operatives are responsible for handling all aspects of sorting, distributing, collecting and dispatching incoming and outgoing mail, liaising with various departments across the college as well as Royal Mail and couriers. This includes using our parcel software in order to manage the incoming and sign out of our student residents’ recorded mail.

You will need to deal with post enquiries from all levels of staff, students and guests attending conferences. The role-holder will be the first point of contact for our residential customers when they are collecting their mail and will work closely with other colleagues within the department to ensure that an effective and co-ordinated service is provided for our customers.

The opening hours of the residential post room range from 9.00 until 18.00 Monday to Friday. All team members are expected to work a shift pattern to cover these hours, which may vary based on the demands of the business.

This is an opportunity to be involved in a key area of service delivery for Residential Services. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a customer-facing role and will be able to demonstrate a commitment and enthusiasm for delivering inspirational customer service.

The role holder will also be comfortable working in a busy and pressurised environment with the minimum of supervision with excellent organisational, problem solving and IT skills.
