A Polymer Chemist is required for a leading manufacturing company. This job posting is paying circa £45,000 plus benefits; you will be responsible for the development of polymer formulations and processes in the manufacturing of the company’s products. This important role will be high profile in the business offering opportunity for technical and career development.

Your duties in this job posting as a Polymer Chemist will include:

  • Developing new formulations and processes in response to customer, market, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborating with manufacturing, design, and product development teams.
  • Increasing the range of products that can be manufactured by the company to meet clients and market need.
  • Improve existing polymer formulations and compounds to meet the changing market and environmental trends.
  • Investigate and help resolve any issues related to formulation or wider polymer processes
  • Evaluation of new and alternative raw materials to achieve product benefits such as cost savings, environmental or enhancements to safety.
  • Participation in the PVC and other polymers’ (including plastisol) mixing procedures.
  • Handling the ink formulations and investigating new inks systems
  • Control and management of Industry related Regulations and Testing
  • Approval of raw materials
  • Control of documentation and reporting
  • Adherence to safety guidelines and protocols

You will be able to demonstrate a commercially astute approach to Polymers, formulation, and R&D. Driven by achieving results that are cost-effective, easily manufactured, and fully adhere to regulation and HSE. Working across departments, you will be assertive and tactful, acting with urgency and diplomatically to achieve results in a friendly and supportive company.

You will hold a degree or Higher in a Scientific subject related to Polymers. Supported by experience in a related sector immersed in Polymers for example, plastics, printing, inks, masterbatch, coatings, laminates etc. Management systems experience including ISO 9001 and ISO 18001 would be an advantage.
