The Farmers’ Union of Wales was established in 1955 to protect and advance the interests of Welsh farming families. Since 1978 the Union’s role has been formally recognised by the UK Government and subsequently by the Welsh Government.

The FUW’s Vision is thriving, sustainable, family farms in Wales, while the Mission of the Union is To advance and protect Wales’ family farms, both nationally and individually, in order to fulfil the Union’s vision.

The Union’s Policy Department is now seeking a new Policy Officer.

The successful applicant will need:

• To have a strong empathy for farming in Wales
• To be prepared to travel throughout Wales
• To be a sound analyst of political and policy issues

They will aid Senior Policy Team staff in formulating the Union’s strategic policy objectives and attend Union branch meetings as and when required in order to provide accurate and timely policy updates.

The successful applicant will also help to develop positive relationships with relevant outside bodies and members at all levels.

Where suitable, the successful applicant may work remotely and/or from one of the FUW’s offices across Wales, but will, where practical and necessary, attend meetings in person.

Fluency in Welsh is highly desirable as is a full and clean UK driving licence.

Bydd angen i’r ymgeisydd llwyddiannus:

• Fod ag empathi cryf tuag at ffermio yng Nghymru
• Fod yn barod i deithio ledled Cymru
• Fod yn ddadansoddwr cadarn o faterion gwleidyddol a pholisi

Byddant yn cynorthwyo staff yr Uwch Dîm Polisi i lunio amcanion polisi strategol yr Undeb a mynychu cyfarfodydd cangen yr Undeb yn ôl yr angen er mwyn darparu diweddariadau polisi cywir ac amserol.

Bydd yr ymgeisydd llwyddiannus hefyd yn helpu i ddatblygu cysylltiadau cadarnhaol gyda chyrff allanol ac aelodau perthnasol ar bob lefel.

Lle bo’n briodol, gall yr ymgeisydd llwyddiannus weithio o gartref a/neu o un o swyddfeydd UAC ledled Cymru, ond bydd angen, lle bo hynny’n ymarferol ac yn angenrheidiol, yn mynychu cyfarfodydd wyneb yn wyneb.

Salary: £25,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
