JOB PURPOSE:

Lead the PMO function and specific requirements for the ICP Business Unit who manage contestable connection enquiries and associated activity. Provide project control services capability across the programme of works.

Ensure bidding, governance, planning and reporting processes are followed to the required structures and standards.

Provide the dedicated ICP business unit team with PMO expertise.

The post holder will also provide a supporting role in business development and bidding activities and the definition of processes and problem solving for continuous improvement and to ensure exceptional customer service, process efficiencies and business unit profitability.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead the PMO requirements, in particular the project governance, control and tracking of ICP projects.
  • Working with the project teams and through planning, estimating, commercial and document control provide accurate and timely schedule data to meet UKPNS and ICP reporting requirements
  • Manage and facilitate governance processes to ensure development and implementation of consistent, standardised business processes, identifying and implementing improvements as part of the governance process.
  • Identify and define core management, control and tracking processes related to the ICP activity
  • Provide support to the ICP Business Unit team in the monitoring of financial control of projects, ensuring the delivery of planned Gross Margins through the interrogation of SAP and reporting
  • Document and monitor project risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies
  • Produce programme management reporting throughout the lifecycle of each ICP project to agreed milestones and criteria.
  • Co-ordinate the flow of information (between UKPNS, IDNO and DNOs and between design and delivery teams) to ensure that interfaces within projects are effectively managed
  • Manage financial processes including invoicing, cost reconciliation, purchase orders, tracking and reporting
  • Work with Project Managers of ICP projects to define, prioritise and develop activities for the successful delivery of those projects.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

UK Power Networks Services is the non-regulated part of UK Power Networks.

The ICP Business Unit identifies opportunities to design and build safe, sustainable and profitable high voltage electrical and multi-utility networks for new connection customers across the UK. We manage a diverse group of industry stakeholders and deliver a range of projects with a specific focus on ICP connections.

The role of PMO Lead – ICP is crucial to the growth and success of the ICP business unit providing back office administration and essential support to the wider team across the end to end process including governance, financial and day to day planning and reporting activities.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPEREINCE:

  • Extensive experience, more than 5 years, in planning and preparation of programme and project management information
  • Qualifications and experience in portfolio and programme management, ideally with accreditation such as APM, PRINCE 2, MSP Practitioner
  • The role holder will be a highly motivated and organised individual, with a good level of attention to detail
  • The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a practical and results-orientated approach through actions undertaken and leading others to action by planning, motivating, organising and controlling tasks and deliverables

Essential

  • Experience of project management reporting, metrics and approaches
  • Knowledge of financial and risk management processes
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Tools
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with good attention to detail
  • An understanding of the competitive connections market
  • An inquisitive mind and ability to problem solve
  • An aptitude for excellent customer service
  • Good Stakeholder Management skills to external and internal stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work in a pressured environment as part of a highly focused team.
  • Experience in a similar customer focused environment
  • Administrative experience, ideally within an office environment
  • The individual must have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly and confidently at all levels of the organisation

Desirable

  • An understanding of Competition law and experience working in a regulated / unregulated environment
  • Experience of working in a competitive marketplace and ideally with ICP / Competition in Connections experience
  • Experience of working in a project management environment
  • Experience of the Project Governance and Control process and a basic commercial awareness would be advantageous
  • Experience of using SAP for Purchase order and Service order management and invoicing
