We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Platform Engineer to join our Alpha IT Platform Services team.

The role
We’re currently recruiting for a Platform Engineer to join our Platform Operations team who focus on the operational ‘run’ of Platforms and Infrastructure services both in Cloud and On-Premise.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing best practice support and maintenance for platforms and supporting infrastructure including the delivery the following:
- Vulnerability / Security Management
- Backup, availability & Disaster recovery management/capability
- Capacity Management
- Configuration & software updates including patching
- Responsible for providing proactive Monitoring / Tuning of on-prem & cloud workloads and related services to maintain service availability and performance.
- Responsible for performing system administration tasks
- Responsible for trouble shooting cloud / non-cloud infrastructure errors
- Responsible for implementing agreed infrastructure changes and maintenance routines.
- Configures tools to automate the provisioning, testing and deployment of new and changed infrastructure.
- Responsible for identifying operational problems and contributes to their resolution, checking that they are managed in accordance with agreed standards and procedures.
- Responsible for working with Service Delivery function to ensure the delivery into production of new or upgraded platform changes are carried out according to agreed quality processes and schedules.
- Responsible for escalating issues promptly and effectively
Background in IT Support – preferably in a 3 rd / 4 th line capacity
Positive attitude with aptitude and hunger for growth and learning
Effective communicator
Proven analytical and problem solving
Azure and/or AWS Administration
Experience of working with MS Windows and/or RHEL Linux Server Operating Systems
Active Directory / Group Policy
Backup and recovery technology
Good understanding of core Networking principles
Security Technologies e.g., Vulnerability Management / protection
