Kier Strategic Highways are recruiting for a Plant Operative who will be part of a team working toward a step change in highways technology maintenance on Kier’s contract extension in Area 9. Breaking with tradition, we will be implementing a proactive, analytical approach, and the Plant Operative will play an important part in implementing this change.

Key Responsibilities

As a Plant Operativepart of the Kier Strategic Highways Area 9 Asset Support Contract, you will be responsible for operating plant to enable technology maintenance activities – including but not limited to operating the maintenance access vehicle and vehicle mounted cranes to replace assist in maintaining technology equipment.

We will give you responsibility for ensuring plant and equipment is regularly checked, inspected and safe for use, ensuring plant is loaded and secured safely before accessing the network, and be responsible for transportation of technology assets, between depot and equipment manufacturer.

Finally, you shall produce & approve lift plans for lifting operations delivered by the Kier technology maintenance team.

The Plant Operative is expected to cover night shifts as required.

What do we need from you?

The successful candidate for this role should have experience operating safety critical lifting equipment, being competent in the operation of a HIAB to perform complex lifts, and have experience producing and approving lift plans.

In terms of qualifications and certifications, we are looking for someone IPAF qualified, HGV Class 2 certified (minimum), has taken the Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course, and has HERS Sector 8 training relevant to role.
