ROLE:Planning Engineer

LOCATION:Base location can be either Rye House (Hertfordshire), Shoreham, Damhead Creek (Kent) or Immingham

SALARY:£60-65K + £2K Southern Allowance (Excludes Immingham), up to 30% bonus + overtime available

Our portfolio includes CCGT, OCG and CHP Power plants as well as hydrogen and carbon capture projects to help lower emissions and develop a future for decarbonised, dispatchable, and flexible generation in the UK.

THE POSITION

An opportunity within VPI has arisen for a Planning Engineer to be based at one our sites within our expanding Portfolio. As part of our Portfolio Engineering Team, you will be responsible for supporting the planning and the delivery of large-scale projects across the Portfolio. In doing so you will be the key interface between the individual sites and many of the Portfolio support functions as well as key contract partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Group Manager you will lead with regard to planning and execution of a wide range of projects ensuring all measured KPI’s (safety, programme, financial, QA) are successfully achieved.
  • You will be the main interface to ensure the VPI Portfolio Outage Best Practice Document is adhered to with all milestone targets being achieved.
  • As such you will be expected to liaise with the individual site outage manager and all support function key representatives (H&S, Environmental, Engineering, Finance) Reporting on project KPI’s via a standardised reporting format for all key stakeholders.
  • Work closely with key contract partners to ensure Project Programs are reflective of works and can be integrated to overall project Programs
  • Responsible for ensuring adhoc & emergent projects are subject to all normal planning requirements ensuring a safe and efficient project is delivered regardless of induced pressures

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE


  • Experience in Large Rotating Plant and/or HRSG Pressure System in large Industrial processes (Power Generation desirable)
  • Expert knowledge in project execution (from planning stages to hand over and contract completion)
  • Educated to minimum HNC standard, with degree desired within an Engineering biased discipline.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g. health & safety, CDM and environmental requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of budget forecasting, reporting and control.
  • Excellent knowledge of contract management
  • Solid understanding of work planning tools and the work control process
  • Good working knowledge of the Generation Safety Rules
  • Good working knowledge of business IT systems (including MS Office, Maximo and Cintellate, but importantly MS Project or Primavera)
