Sweet Symphony School of Music is an established music school in Washington, Tyne & Wear. We are committed to offering professional, friendly and affordable music lessons to Students of all ages and abilities, from preschool children to retired adults.

We offer tuition on a wide range of instruments including clarinet, drums, flute, guitar, keyboard, piano, saxophone, singing, trumpet, ukulele and violin.

We currently teach over 400 Students each week and have recently been awarded "Music School of the Year" for the North of England in the National Prestige Awards.

We are currently looking to recruit a new friendly, committed, reliable and passionate Piano Teacher to join the Sweet Symphony team from September, to enable us to be able to expand our availability for new enquiries.

This role will appeal to proficient pianists who are creative, energetic and passionate about impacting the future of instrumental teaching.

Being able to offer tuition in multiple instruments will be viewed as a bonus.

Teaching hours will be Tuesday 11am-1:30pm and Thursday & Friday 3pm-8pm, with the possibility of adding extra hours once the timetable is fully-booked.

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality Piano Lessons that are appropriate to the age and ability level of individual Students.
  • Motivating and encouraging Students in order to further develop their learning
  • Preparing Students for music exams using the Trinity College exam syllabus
  • Providing Students and their families with timely feedback after each lesson using the Sweet Symphony Online Student Portal

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • A high standard of piano-playing ability (Grade 8 equivalent or above)
  • Good communication skills, in both written and spoken English
  • The ability to work well as an individual but also as part of our larger team of Sweet Symphony teachers
  • Experience in working with children
  • Excellent time-keeping and reliability

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Music degree or Music diploma
  • Teaching experience or Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience in performing in a variety of musical genres
  • Knowledge/experience of using Trinity College exam syllabus
