Within Pharmacy, Aseptic Services are responsible for the development, preparation and supply of unique patient centered medicines, including the preparation of injectable systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT), parenteral (intravenous) nutrition for neonatal and adult patients plus IV antibiotic therapy. With the advances in medicines that deliver improved outcomes for patients, demand for these critical services have been growing.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, pro-active and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly Technical Services Team. The post involves accuracy checking and aseptically preparing a variety of different types of IV medications for patients in a controlled manufacturing environment. A high level of accuracy is required as the post involves measuring ingredients for the manufacture of patient doses. You will need to be able to work efficiently and follow procedures at all times; working proactively on your own or under supervision. Due to the critical nature of our work, you will have to meet the highest standards of discipline, personal hygiene and attention to detail.

This post is likely be included in the Transforming Access to Medicines Service project, this will create a shared Centralised Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Service, to be delivered through 3 regional medicines hubs across Wales. We hope to be in a position to begin formal consultation on the proposed organisational change by early 2022, in line with the All Wales Organisational Change Policy. We would like to emphasise there will be no job losses due to this, further information can be provided by the recruiting manager.

The successful applicant must either be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or have completed or be in the process of completion of the Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician apprenticeship scheme.
