Results, customer and people focused. That’s Magnet in a nutshell. And if you’ve got the same approach and would like to become part of the Magnet family, we could have a great next move for you in our People and Culture team.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the People & Culture Partner for our Stores and part of a team of 6 People & Culture Managers that cover the UK, you’ll work closely with Area Sales Managers and Store teams across the North West, West Midlands and South Wales. This includes 32 stores in the West from Lancaster down to Cardiff, across to Redditch and Worcester.

Ideally based in the North West with easy access to our Store network, you’ll provide generalist HR Support to Area Sales Managers, Store Managers and Colleagues regarding HR policies, procedures, engagement, attraction, retention and succession planning. You’ll also partner the Stores Leadership Team with executing and implementing the People plan.

How you qualify for the role

The ability to naturally coach Store Managers and drive and implement initiatives is crucial as are strong influencing skills. You’ll need to be a confident, forward thinking, self-starter who can adapt and flex with the needs of the business and be self-sufficient in terms of managing their own workload effectively. Developing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with Area Sales Managers, Store Managers, Colleagues and the rest of the wider People and Culture team will ensure success in the role.

Preferably from retail/hospitality/service industry, you will already have experience of working in a fast-moving multi-site or field role in a HR advisory capacity. A flexible approach to diary planning is required as you will need to juggle and prioritise a number of demands whilst managing your time effectively. Ideally, you’ll be CIPD qualified or studying towards it but more importantly you must have an excellent working knowledge of employment legislation.

You’ll also have excellent communication skills combined with an engaging, pragmatic and highly commercial approach. A driving licence is a must as normally you’d be travelling extensively both around your own areas and other Magnet locations, with occasional overnight stays (currently not quite the case due to COVID).

What you’ll get in return

We’ll offer you an attractive salary, company car and private medical insurance cover along with a holiday entitlement of 23 days per year rising to 25 after 5 years and a significant colleague discount scheme plus other benefits. We can also offer you support with your career development through both our own and industry recognised training courses and qualifications.
