An Electronic Manufacturing Business are looking for a PCB Design Engineer to join their team on a full, time permanent basis.

The role involves interpreting schematics and layout of multi-layer PCB’s, adhering to strict layout rules for signal integrity, reliability, and manufacturability. The PCB designer has to work closely with hardware design engineers working often as a team on circuit schematics, discussing complex layout sections, signal integrity simulation and reviewing layout for safety and EMC compliance standards.

Responsibilties
  • CAD layout of complex PCB’s for digital and analogue products.
  • Edit schematics where needed.
  • Prepare BOM materials and manufacturing data.
  • Stay current with high-speed PCB design techniques.
  • Generate new component symbols and geometries for CAD library.
  • Involvement in signal integrity simulation.
  • Involvement in R&D Engineering team design reviews.

Essential

Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualification in engineering, with strong emphasis on electronics.
  • CAD PCB layout and schematic capture tools (Altium an advantage).
  • Analogue, digital and mixed-signal PCB layout.
  • Good PC skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

Preferred
  • Electronic design experience.
  • Digital high speed electronics layout.
  • Multi-layer PCB layout.
  • Relevant IPC standards.
  • Working knowledge of signal integrity aspects of PCBs including controlled impedance, cross talk, current density / thermal design.
  • Knowledge of the process involved in building component libraries.
  • Order processing, BOM creation for PCB’s.
