Payroll Supervisor (Maternity Cover) - Glasgow West End

G1 Group are recruiting for a talented and experienced Payroll Supervisor to join our fantastic team based in our Head Office in the West End of Glasgow to cover a period of Maternity.

Providing support on all Payroll matters, it will be your responsibility to ensure pay is processed accurately and efficiently within the defined timescales and support the Payroll Manager as required.

The Role:

As Payroll Supervisor, your key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring accurate payment of salaries to employees
  • Analyzing data and presenting the information to highlight any issues or risks
  • Work with Payroll Manager to review existing procedures and implement improvements as needed.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of payroll checklists and procedures.
  • Work with Payroll Manager on year-end payroll processes.
  • Review payroll reconciliations.
  • Supervise and train the payroll team as required.
  • Process monthly payroll including starters, leavers, temporary, Subcontractor & PR/DJ payrolls.
  • Administer pay review changes and backdated pay calculations.
  • Run month end reports and processes.
  • Assist in administering pension and benefits schemes
  • Involvement in all aspects of HMRC and pension year-end routines and procedures

The Person:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least two years payroll experience
  • An eye for detail and process improvement
  • Payroll, legislation and technical knowledge is essential
  • HNC Business Studies or equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of employment tax law (HMRC, PAYE, etc)
  • Understanding of professional accounting concepts and practices
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and database applications
  • Experience of Midland HR Trent software desirable
  • Experience of pension administration
  • Excellent current technical payroll knowledge
